Choose a link type#
A component can have several simple links and one smart link.
Simple links provide point-to-point walking connections with direction and area settings. Smart links can be enabled or disabled during play, fire events, and use built-in traversal.
For a gap requiring a jump, use the smart link and remove redundant simple links.
Position endpoints#
Select the component and drag its endpoint handles. Endpoints move with the component. Compile and save the Blueprint after editing.
Simple-link endpoints and smart-link endpoints are separate. Copy End Points From Simple Link places the smart link at the first simple link's endpoints.
Choose traversal#
| Mode | Use |
|---|---|
| Jump | Carry a Character over a gap. Other pawns are teleported. |
| Teleport | Move immediately to the far end. |
| None | Let the agent walk or supply your own movement. |
Jump Arc adjusts the jump height. Test the route for collision with railings, ceilings, or ledges.
Enable and disable#
Use Set Smart Link Enabled to change whether the smart link is open. Its Disabled Area Class should be Null when disabled means impassable.
Use events#
On Smart Link Reached is useful for effects or starting your own traversal. On Smart Link Traversal Finished signals built-in traversal completion.
If your Blueprint moves the agent itself, choose None, start movement immediately, and call Resume Path Following once the agent is across.
