Pick a row#

Use Get Random Row Name for an unrestricted choice. Use Get Random Matching Row Name when only rows meeting your conditions should qualify.

Check Success before reading the chosen row. When a pick fails, Row Name can keep an earlier value.

Give some rewards more weight#

Add a numeric weight field to your table and choose Get Weighted Random Row Name. Set its weight property path to that field.

A larger positive weight makes a row more likely to be selected. A zero-weight row is not selected while positive weights are available. Negative weights are treated as zero. If all candidates have zero weight, the choice falls back to an equal chance.

Use the matching weighted variant when conditions should first limit the candidate set.

Make tests repeatable#

Use a Seeded random node and a consistent random-stream seed. Keep the candidate data, conditions, and weights the same when comparing runs.

Changing the table or seed can change the result. Use a normal random node when you do not need a repeatable test.

Check unexpected picks#

Confirm the selected weight path is numeric. Inspect the candidate rows before selection, especially when a filter is involved. A filtered list containing only zero weights will use the equal-chance fallback.
