Which engine versions are supported?#

UE 5.5–5.8.

Can it open a save whose class is missing?#

The Raw view can show saved values. Use Decode As to inspect the file with a class you select, and review differences before saving.

Why does a field show default?#

The file has no saved value for that field, so the class default is displayed.

Does opening a save change it?#

No. Writing the file is a separate Save or Save As action.

Will a rename rule work with the normal load node?#

Use a Migrated load node for the plugin's recovery rules and migration steps.

Do I need a different save node?#

No. Continue using Save Game To Slot.

Can I compare files from different save versions?#

Yes. Use Compare With and review the field and header differences.

Can I undo live edits?#

No. Live edits change the running object immediately. Make a snapshot when you need a separate copy.

Does each SaveGame class have its own version?#

Yes, once you run New Save Version for it. Until then it uses the project-wide version, which is usually 0.

Why test a packaged build too?#

The editor can load some renamed values that a packaged game would lose. Check the Packaged game Issues view and test the actual game.
