Find the right save#
The file list includes project saves and the project's packaged Shipping save folder. Use Add Folder for another location, such as a Development build's saves.
If a file is absent, use Open to choose it directly and verify that it belongs to this project.
Editor Preferences#
Open Editor Preferences → Plugins → Save Game Inspector.
| Setting | Use |
|---|---|
| Extra Folders | Add save locations to the list. |
| List Packaged Game Saves | Show Shipping saves for the project. |
| Auto Reload | Refresh an open file after it changes on disk. |
| Change Log Depth | Keep earlier versions for comparisons. |
| Restore Slot After Play | Default to putting the test slot back after play. |
| Play With Unsaved Edits | Default to testing your current inspector edits. |
| Default Issues View | Choose the view a new tab starts with: packaged-game or editor results. |
Project Settings#
Project Settings → Plugins → Save Game Inspector contains the read-only class versions, the migration steps, and the field rename rules used by the game, plus Analyze On Load and Log Dropped Fields. See the Feature reference for every setting.
Use New Save Version to raise a class's version and prepare its migration. Keep the required project settings and migration assets in your normal source-control workflow.
When a file changes during editing#
If your open tab has edits, choose whether to reload and drop them or keep your version. Review the Change Log and comparison before overwriting a file the game has just updated.
