Play a file#
- Open the save and press Play.
- Pick the slot your game actually loads.
- Leave Put the slot's own file back when Play In Editor ends enabled.
- Choose whether to use unsaved edits from the inspector.
- Start the session.
The chosen file is supplied to that slot for the test. The original slot file is restored after the session when restoration is enabled.
If a session is already running#
Use Write To Slot Now. The game sees the file on its next load; writing a slot does not automatically reload an object the game already holds.
Inspect live values#
Double-click an entry under Live (Play In Editor). Changes affect the running game's save object immediately. Live edits cannot be undone.
Use Snapshot to capture a separate copy for comparison or saving. When the session ends, the live tab becomes a snapshot of the last state.
Compare two moments#
Use Compare With to inspect a live object beside a file or snapshot. Select a difference to find it in both views.
Keep the test representative#
Confirm the game's slot name and load node. If you are testing field recovery, the game needs a Migrated load node. Repeat important checks in a packaged build because editor loading can hide rename problems.
