Browse and inspect#
The left list includes project saves, packaged Shipping saves, added folders, and recent files. Double-click a save to open it. During Play In Editor, live save objects appear too.
Check All reviews the listed files for loading issues. Click an issue in an open save to locate its field.
Choose the Issues view#
Packaged game shows what a shipped game would lose. This editor shows what this editor's loader loses. A renamed field can work in the editor and still need a recovery rule for the game.
Use the main controls#
| Control | Use |
|---|---|
| Open | Choose a save file. |
| Reload | Read it again; unsaved edits may be discarded after confirmation. |
| Save / Save As | Write edits or create a separate file. |
| Decode As | Inspect the save using another SaveGame class. |
| Migrate | Apply rename rules and due migration steps to the open copy, then compare before and after. Save writes the result; Reload discards it. |
| Compare With | Compare another file, open save, live object, earlier version, or the state before Migrate. |
| Raw | Show the values as stored in the file. It opens automatically when the class cannot be used. |
| Play | Try the save in a game slot during Play In Editor. |
Save carefully#
The first overwrite from each open tab copies the original to Saved/SaveGameInspector/Backups. The inspector asks before saving a result that loses fields or changes class. Keep a separate original for important test saves.
Normal file edits support Undo and Redo. Live edits affect the running object immediately and cannot be undone.
Compare changes#
Select a difference to locate it in both panels. Stop Comparing returns to the normal view. After migration, compare the before and after values before saving.
