Exclude one class#
For a pool that should ignore a boat:
- Select the volume component.
- Set Filter → Mode to Ignore Listed Actors.
- Add the boat class to Classes.
- Test the boat and a Character entering the area.
Include Subclasses is on by default. Turn it off when only that exact class should match.
Match actors by tag#
Add a tag such as IgnorePool to Actor Tags in the filter, then add it to the matching actors' Actor → Tags list. These are ordinary actor tags, not Gameplay Tags.
Any matching class or tag is enough. Enable Match Component Tags only when the rule should also use component tags.
Affect only a chosen group#
Choose Affect Only Listed Actors and add the allowed classes or tags. An empty list affects nothing.
Limit collision channels#
Open Physics Volume Collision and choose Custom... in Collision Presets if needed. Set the relevant object channel, such as Pawn, to Overlap.
Block does not make the volume effect stronger. Both Block and Ignore prevent that channel from receiving the volume's effect.
Verify the complete rule#
An actor must pass both collision and the class/tag filter. Start with a working unfiltered volume, then add one restriction at a time.
