Choose a shape#

Component Size control
Physics Volume Box Box Extent
Physics Volume Sphere Sphere Radius
Physics Volume Capsule Capsule Radius and Capsule Half Height

The components share the same volume settings. For a volume placed directly in a level, Place Actors → Volumes → Filtering Physics Volume offers an editable brush.

Set the effect#

Enabled turns the effect on or off. Water Volume enables swimming for compatible Characters. Fluid Friction controls resistance while swimming or flying, and Terminal Velocity limits Character falling speed.

Choose World Gravity, Scale World Gravity, or Absolute Gravity Z to control gravity. These settings affect movement that uses physics volumes; do not assume every custom movement system or simulated object will respond.

Choose affected actors#

Use Filter for classes and tags, and Physics Volume Collision for object channels. Both need to allow the actor. A placed Filtering Physics Volume uses the standard Collision section instead.

Use different Priority values where volumes overlap. Higher priority takes precedence.

Change settings during play#

Blueprint controls such as Set Volume Enabled, Set Volume Settings, and Set Filter apply changes to actors already inside. Add Filtered Class and Add Filtered Tag are useful for changing exclusions.

React to entry and exit#

Use On Actor Entered Volume and On Actor Left Volume. Ignored actors do not trigger these events. In multiplayer, use Has Authority for damage, scoring, or spawning.

Remove the plugin#

Remove its volume components from your Blueprints, delete placed Filtering Physics Volumes from your levels, and save affected assets before disabling the plugin.
