Nothing happens when an actor enters#
- Check Enabled.
- Set the actor's channel to Overlap in Physics Volume Collision.
- Check the filter does not exclude the actor.
- Check the actor's movement has Should Update Physics Volume enabled.
- Test in Play In Editor.
Can Volume Affect Anything can help identify a collision setup that permits no effect.
The Blueprint preview shows no effect#
The preview displays the shape. Test movement in a world that has begun play.
Everything is ignored#
Check for Affect Only Listed Actors with an empty list. Also check Include Subclasses: listing Pawn can match Characters as well.
My tag rule does not work#
Put the tag in the actor's Tags list. A Gameplay Tag is not the same setting. Match Component Tags also checks the tags of the component that enters the volume, such as a Character's capsule, but not the actor's other components.
A Character swims above or below the visible surface#
Align the top of the volume with the water line. Check the volume's dimensions separately from the water mesh.
The effect changes unpredictably in an overlap#
Give the volumes different priorities. Check whether the actor is filtered out of the higher-priority area.
A capsule becomes round when flattened#
A capsule shortened below its radius behaves like a sphere. Adjust its radius and half height to fit the intended shape.
A bare Scene Component bypasses the filter and Enabled#
A bare Scene Component that tracks physics volumes ignores both the filter and the Enabled switch. Use the supported Character, Pawn, or movement-component workflow and test the actual actor you intend to affect.
Multiplayer reactions happen twice#
Entry and exit events can run on server and clients. Use Has Authority for damage, scoring, or spawning.
